IELTS Writing Workshop Paphos

Cambridge Cyprus / IELTS Cyprus are pleased to invite you to join the IELTS Teacher Training Program - IELTS Writing Workshop.

The IELTS Teacher Training Program has been developed as a support tool to further enhance teachers' performance and effectiveness as IELTS Writing teachers. Teachers will learn how to use the public version of the Band Descriptors as a teaching resource. A teacher can highlight the features that best match the student's written performance, and, in this way, the student can strive to reach all the positive features needed to achieve the higher bands.

The Writing course will help

• To understand how IELTS teachers can use the public Band Descriptors as a teaching tool

• To become familiar with the key features in the public version of the Writing Band Descriptors

• To practise rating written extracts using the descriptors as a guide

• To understand why candidates don’t achieve their desired band score because of negative features in their written performance

• To further enhance teachers’ performance and effectiveness as IELTS Writing teachers

The Writing course will focus on the following areas:

• Introduction to IELTS Writing

• Understanding IELTS Writing prompts (test questions)

• Focus on assessment criteria and terminology

• Focus on the Writing assessment method • Identifying negative features in scripts

• Understanding how the public Band Descriptors are applied to written responses

• Practice in using the public Band Descriptors

Teachers are not allowed to award band scores using the public Band Descriptors but can highlight features in the assessment criteria that match written performance. Band scores can only be awarded by trained IELTS examiners using the confidential band descriptors.

Note that the contents of this training course must not be shared or distributed.

The Standard cost is €80, however, for the Cambridge Cyprus members the cost is €40.

Certificates will be given at the end of workshop.
